When authors write an essay where they try to make a convincing argument they will use one or more of three appeals to the reader. These appeals are called ethos pathos and logos. Ethos is where the author creates credibility. Pathos is where they will appeal to the readers emotions. And logos is where they use logic. Good writers will try to use all three in their argument.
