Day 76

Objective:  The students will read and analyze another satire.  This is a TWO DAY assignment.

1.  WP on satire

2.  Complete yesterday's writing and turn in stapled to yesterday's close reading.

3.  Satire Number 3 Activity:  Dirty Laundry.  We will work on this for two days.

4.  Outside Book Requirement:  Due in 10 days:  No late work.

Day 75

Objective:  The students will read a satire and know the author’s intended purpose.

I:  Close Read (annotate) the essay.  

II:  Answer the following questions in an AP style/quality paragraph.  This will not be 5 sentences!

  1. What is the author making fun of?
  2. Is the satire bitter and mean or is it gentle and humorous?  Explain with quotes.
  3. What is this satire’s intended purpose?  What would the author like to see changed?
  4. What is the theme?

Objective:  The students will learn about satires and why they are written.

Day 73

Objective:  The students will finish The Count of MC movie.

1.  Turn in your project.  Make sure that each of you has shared your song list with me on Google Classroom.

2.  Finish the movie.  Big twist at the end!!

3.  Have a great week off.  Take your outside book with you on all of your trips.  Read it by the fire.  Read it to your dog.  Be safe and enjoy your time off.

Day 70

Objective:  The students will know the expectations for the Outside Reading Requirement.

1.  Outside Reading:  Due 9.  I will not accept late work for any reason.  Hospital, Covid, nothing.  This is a long term assignment, which means that I don't have to accept it even if you are absent with an excuse.  See ed code:  :)

2.  Requirements:

Pages: 250 (250 points)

Close Read:  100 points

Oral Questions:  100 or 70 or 50 or zero.

Wriiten Report:  200 points.  See format on warrenmlk.com

Day 69

Objective:  The students will pass the Monte Cristo test if they read.

1.  Get scan sheet and a pencil.

2.  Write your name on the top.  If you make me look it up, I will take 10 points off the score.

3.  Finish test.  Be careful of tricks.  There are no "misspelled words" that I know of.

4.  If you close read the book put your name in it and put it on my desk.

Day 67

Objective:  The students will complete their statement about life.

1.  Complete poem.  Make sure that you have personification, assonance and alliteration.  Make sure you have a clear Theme that I can figure out.

2.  Bring poem PRINTED tomorrow.

3.  Finish Monte Cristo.

Tomorrow we will discuss the Outside Reading Report requirements.

Day 66

Objective:  The students will discuss analysis of poem and then write their own "Theme" for their life.

1.  Discuss your analysis poster.

2.  Write your own theme poem.  Use his format, give him credit for copying the format, then write.  It will look similar, but it will be different.  What do you have to teach me (society) about yourself and the world as a 15-16 year old growing up in this crazy word of 2022?

This will be typed.  100 points.

Day 63

Objective:  The students will finish their Stump the Teacher assignment so that they can participate in the game tomorrow.  And not have to write an essay.

1.  Today I want to give everyone time to work on Monte Cristo and the assignment.  You don't want to have to write the essay for the highest score of a 60.

2.  Pass back all work in the folders.  I want it empty!

Objective:  The students will analyze "Catch the Moon" and decide what its theme is.

1.  Quarter 2 Pre-test (10 points to grade).

2.  Finish the last two pages of the story.

3.  Complete the analysis worksheet.

4.  Stump the Teacher is moved to Friday.  (you are welcome)
