Ok We Are Ready to get some things typed up!

Objective:  The students will all type their intro paragraphs and begin Part 1 of their paper.

1.  Get folders.
2.  WP #4
3.  How to set up a Google Doc
4.  Everyone type your intro (use your phones if you have to)
5.  Let's look at 2 or 3 samples
6.  Write Part I of your body.  That is the Irish Immigrant + S.I. paragraph(s)

Let's Talk Intro Paragraphs

Objective:  The students will learn a very effective, fast and easy way to write an intro paragraph.

1.  Put folder and packet on desk.  Make sure your name is written on the spine.
2.  WP #3
3.  Points for 1)  Folder and 2) Close Reading Packet (Discuss Book List)
4.  Discuss Prompt and paper planning
5.  Discuss Thesis
6.  Discuss Intro Paragraphs
7.  Write your intro (Feel free to use Google Docs and your phone or device.

Homework:  Figure out what book you want to read for outside reading.

Almost Ready to Write

Objective:  The students will gather their last bit of information for the first essay.

1.  WP #2
2.  Discuss "The Education of Frank McCourt" and what you found that you can use in your essay.
3.  Close Read the last piece:  "Typhoid Fever"

Homework:  Be sure you have close read all 4 texts.  100 points tomorrow for the annotating of all 4 pieces.

Homework:  Be sure to have your folder set up for 100 points.  Be sure to have the Honors Book List PRINTED OUT so that we can mark up the few things that you can not read.

Our first short day.

Objective:  The students will read their first article about Frank McCourt in order to gather more specific information and quotes for their writing.

1.  WP #1 (This is how I will teach grammar and writing rules).
2.  Roll
3.  Close Read "The Education of Frank McCourt"

Homework:  Supplies by Friday.  Order Monte Cristo if you want the 100 points of Extra Credit.

Who did their homework?

Objective:  The students will continue close reading their packet looking for good information and specific facts and quotes that they can use in their upcoming essay.

1.  Roll (If you have your class folder, please use a Sharpie and put your name (in large print) on the spine.  I will get the points on Friday.
2.  Website Quiz.  10 points.
3.  Look at the writing prompt again and discuss.  Also we forgot an important detail to highlight yesterday on the poem!  What do you think we missed?
4.  Close Read "Home for the Heart" (make highlights and annotations).
5.  Discuss your work with a partner.  What info did you find that is important to our task?

Homework:  Get those supplies, download Honors Book List, order Monte Cristo if you plan to get the extra credit.

Welcome to your first day as a King Sophomore!

Objective:  The students will break down our first writing prompt and begin Close Reading of our first texts.

1.  Sit anywhere for the first week  (pick a seat where you can be productive).
2.  Intro and Roll
3.  Supplies List (these are due on Friday for points)
4.  Close/Active Reading Notes
5.  Breakdown of writing prompt.
6.  Begin Close Reading of text 1.
7.  Homework:  Visit my webpage.  Read all pages and familiarize yourself with it.  Quiz tomorrow.
