1.  Roll will be taken during the "Book Talk."

2.  Get your book out, and your highlighter and pen.  Start reading.  I am going to call you all in a random order.  You will show me your book, show me where you are at in the book, and show me a sample of your close reading skills.

If I am not happy with today's discussion, the "Done Grading" box gets clicked and your holiday may not be so Thankful.  :)

Day 43

Objective:  The students will discuss the requirements of the Outside Reading Book Report.

ROLL QUIZ

1.  Reminder:  Outside Book is due December 7.  IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE.  By law (ED CODE 48205), I have to accept pate work if you are excused "sick."  BUT, there is one exception:  LONG TERM ASSIGNMENTS.  I assigned this on the first week of school.  You could have completed it at anytime.  So, LATE WORK DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ACCEPTED. 

You now have 19 days to complete the close reading and the report.  Everyone look at Aeries right now:  That is your grade.  If you don't do it...  Now look at your grade. 

2.  Book Report Format:  Linked on warrenmlk.com.  The format must be followed EXACTLY is you want full credit.

Reminder:  This is worth 650 points to your grade.

Close Reading IN BOOK:  100

Oral Question:  100

Book Report:  200 (no rewrites on this)

Page total:  250

This will probably drop a grade 10% if not complete.

 Objective:  The students will take and pass the District Mandated Reading Assessment.

2.  Discuss "The Beginning of Grief"

3.  Complete the district reading test.  Is it a grade?  Yes, but small.  If you get an A, you get 25 points, a B is 20, a C is 15, a D is 10 and an F is 5.

 Hard to believe that we have been in "school" now for 40 days.  And I still don't know what some of you look like! :)

 What is jargon?  Jargon is special vocabulary used by people engaged in a particular activity or occupation.  It’s basically words that those people would understand and be familiar with, but others may not know what they mean.

 

Example:      Computer people:  RAM, cookie, boot

                     Baseball fan:  Sacrifice, squeeze, pinch hitter
