Period 2 and 5

Today we had an interesting day!

We discussed the questions from Monte Cristo chapters 40-50 and turned them in.

Next we prepared for the visit from a professional published poet. Each group was asked to read a poem by the author, analyze it and prepare a poster in order to "teach" to the rest of the class.

Have a great day! Warren

Thursday, November 18, 2004

In the Honors classes today we did a bit of catch up. We handed back a lot of work that was graded and sitting in the folder. All students got new grade reports and we discussed their in class essays that were written last class.

Then we went over the chapters 41-45 of the Count of Monte Cristo. Some of the kids were confused about the telegraph part, but now they know that Dantes sent false information for Debray to tell to Mrs. Danglars, and she would tell her husband. It is all Dantes plan to make Danglars lose money and ruin him.

Lastly we did "Calling Home" in the interactive reader. It was discussed and graded in class.

No reading this weekend, but we will finish Monte Criso in two weeks, so projects are due then!

Later Warren!

Monday, November 08, 2004

In all Honors classes today we started CAT6 Activities again with #11. Then we had a quiz and discussion of Monte Cristo Chapters 21-30.

We started "Last Night of the World" assignment by completing activities 1-5 on the handout. This is not on weblockers, but can be picked up in class if you are absent.

Take the night off from Monte Cristo or catch up if you are behind.

Have a great day! Warren

Hey everybody, its me, your beloved Leslie, back from a long vacation. Well today we started off by dancing to the music!! but in Warren land we did the last CAT 6!! Until, that is, the next one, but we did turn in our packet of them. Then we took notes, Mr. Warren decided to make today exciting, as you can tell. Well those exciting notes were about point of view of stories, like first person and so on, and a short blurb about allusions. Well then that led into our next activity, which we had to compare Dantes's escape to a baptism... whatever happened to seperation of church and state?? Well Mr. Warren made the mistake of letting us do that first, because that gave away a few of the questions on the quiz we took afterwards. That was on chapters 15-20 in The Count of Monte Cristo. Tonight we don't have any reading homework, Thank JEBUS!! We only need to work on our book reports that non of us have started yet. Well people are now playing the piano on each others heads... This class is by far the most weird class in the history of second period. I defy anydbody to find a weirder one!!! Well time to go read Seah Moss' mind... he has a cool name, all three of them are four letter words. See you on the flip side!
You know you love me,
Leslie

10/14/04

1: Went over "Mary" in interactive reader.
2: Notes on Count Of Monte Cristo
3: Went over project guidlines
It was a great day in Mr. Warren's artificial territory. No this is not the bestest person (and may I add coolest) person to type on this keyboard, this is the guy she kicked off originally. At first the day started out slow, we began to correct "Mary" in the interactive reader and did a workpage on Characterization in Literature. As I sit next to Leslie I'm being corrected constantly, after all not everybody can be as perfect as her. During the web log, a puppet show is being presented to the class and I'm being accused of have writer's block. We did a preperation for Count of Monte Cristo, where the teacher tried to link himself to the main character (although sarcastic and quite interesting, it still recieved much response from the revolutionary part of the classroom[Leslie's side]). I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to do this again due to the fact that I am not welcomed on this keyboard. We now have two new projects to be presented at the same time in groups of four, but the left side of the classroom tried to make it five, needless to say it proved to be useless to fight against king of Warrenland(as Leslie describes it).

Period 5

1. CAT6 #7

2. Notes on Characters

3. Chapter 1 Quiz using voting devices worth 20 points

4. Checked out The Count of Monte Cristo

5. Finished "Mary" in the interactive readers.

Do not start reading Monte ~Cristo until Thursday!
Today we first did our CAT6 exercise #7. We then took notes on different characters in a story. Next, our class had a fun quiz using the voting devices and reviewing the information we have learned this year. Afterwards, we went to the library and checked out the book The Count of Monte Cristo. At the end of class we finished reading the story,"Mary",in our interactive readers, and did the exercises at the end.

Monday, October 11, 2004

The first thing we did in class today was review the student handbook. Then we went over the "Everyday Use" activity and completed it in class. After that we were assigned to read in our interactive reader's "Mary."
Mr. Warren's Honors Literature Web Log
Its me again, and today was pretty fun in second period Warrenland. We talked about stupid school rules that most of us won't follow anyways, like the gum policy, PUHLEASE! Not that I chew gum... Well afterward we reflected on "Everyday Use," in whcih King Rod told us"I was thinking of calling her another B word." after I said that Dee was a "Butthead." It was pretty funny, and if you don't think so then please keep you comments to youself. Thats was basically it, besides getting chewed out for only three people turning in Reflection so far. I have mine done, I just need to get the parent signature. Seriously people, its an easy 100 points. Just pretend that you know what you are doing and write a poem thats not twenty lines. Its really not hard at all! Now for th4e social events that went on: Natalie got yelled at, sorta (I don't think that Mr. Warren yells...) because she was drawing on Brittany's arm. Those two were also wearing animals for spirit day. natalie and a monkey around her neck and Brittany had a beaver aroun her waist. They made them kiss and stuff... isn't interspecies dating illeagle? Well time to go deal with the incredibleovere population of bunnies!!

Period 2 and 5

We went over the book report requirements and I gave out an old sample. The format is different, but the content is the same. The reports are due on November 2, 2004 and I won't be able to accept any late papers so be sure to have them in on time (or early).

We read "Everyday Use" in the interactive reader and completed an in class test that will be due on Monday.

Have a great weekend. Warren

Period 5
Today in class Mr. Pruett came in and talked to us about our transcripts. After that we did our CAT 6's. Then we took our chapter two notes. Lastly for homework we were assigned to write a direct to indirect story.
Welcome again to another wonderful blog written by me, Leslie. Today in Warren Land we got our transcripts, and planned out our WHOLE entire lives, but in pencil so that it can be erased. We also did another EXCITING CAT 6, this was amusing to me just because it was number six, six number six... I guess you just have to be me. Well we did another exciting activity, notes!! Oh yes, very special notes that deal with characters and characterization. It was then that Natalie's toe attacked Alex. It was an exciting battle, but the toe won out in the end. While we were writing a couple paragraphs of INdirect characterization, we listened to horrible country. The dislike of the music started a discussion, and King Rod claimed to have every band's CD. It was then that I lost all respect for him, HE DOES NOT LIKE THE BEATLES!! That should be against the law!! Well its not as bad as when Eden asked who Frank Sinatra was. How can you not know?? Hope that if you were absent from this class you didn't miss me, I mean the class, too much. Well alpaca's are taking over the world now, much to Natalies delight, so I have to go shear them.
You know you love me,
Leslie
PS. This is Period two, which rocks your socks!! Just in case you were wondering.

Period 5
Today in King Warren's class we had an AWESOME time! We had presentations on Rain of Gold/Kaffir Boy/Cry, the Beloved Country. Notes on Expository Essay, which will be due on Tuesday. Almost everybbody who presented today got a ninty percent, besides one group who got an eighty five because they nailed the teacher in the head with a penny, which made him angry. There is still one last group who hasn't gone because a member of their group was absent *ahem* Natalie Skieth *ahem*. The best group of all is going on monday, featuring Wonder Woman, Cat Woman, Spiderman, The Flash, Super Girl. We will soo rock your socks!! If you don't pay attention we will hit you with candy, or spray you with silly string. I told you we will rock!! The essay is about the two stories that we read, "The Pedesrian", and "Long Way Home". We have to decide which one is more realistic. So Natalie bring the stuff on Monday, or we will eat your brains!!
You know you love me!

Period 3, 9-29-04

Took the chapter one test. It was lovely. Don't worry, it was pretty easy. Anyway, We read some paragraphs (though not my own) written about "The Pedestrian" and "Long Way Home" in the "inverted triangle format." Shortly thereafter, we discussed whether or not anyone was ready to make their presentations about various things related to the Summer reading (You know the project) but nobody was, so presentations will occur on Friday.

1) test
2) Intro paragraphs
3) Lack of projects
4) work on projects so we are ready
HOMEWORK!!!! is to work on your project and outside reading.

Mr. Warren's parable:

The once was a very wise old(ish) man who told his young students to plan ahead and read whenever possible. The end of the year would come quickly and he warned them that if they waited too long to finish their outside books, they would be in troble at the end. Well, one student named Scott decided to take the wise man's advice and read a long book the first quarter of the year. Antother student named Kelly read a shorter book, but she only had a few pages to read her last quarter. The last student named Ashley, well, she was in trouble both at home and at school. When the day came for papers to be turned in and pages counted, she was very upset. She stressed out and could not complete the number of pages needed, and she blamed it on the wise man. But the other young people just smiled and were happy.

Friday, April 23, 2004

Today, on the day of being the April 23rd of the 2004th, the class began as Comrade Commissar Warren ordered the oppressed peoples of his 3rd period class to take a quiz that was unneccessarily difficult and purely communist. Immediately following the torture was prolonged with an analyzation of our previous homework assignment. While the descriptions were helpful, the work remained entirely communist. That sly fox. The day finally came to a long-awaited end after we edured a depressingly long poem that was packed with literary fluff of the most irritable kind.

Yours, Jon Connery.

Thursday, April 22, 2004

Periods 2 and 5

We went over your first chapter of LOTF as well as the key points of Warren's Dialectic Journal. We also had a ten point quiz. Most students in Period 2 did very well, but Period 5 really did HORRIBLE! I think that I will make the next quiz worth 100 points and have it be an essay, so that they can't even guess the correct answer. That should get them to read.

We also started the "Theme from English B" activity. Period 5 was assigned the poem to write over the weekend. Period 2 still needs to discuss the meaning of the poem and their posters.
