Already a 3 Day Weekend!

Objective:  The students will discuss "The Education of Frank McCourt" and how it could be used in their upcoming essay and then read two more short pieces that can also be used as info in their writing.

1.  WP #3  (Put folder and Lit book on desk with names on spine of each)
2.  Some Stuff to Address:
              a)  Food and Drinks Policy:  King Kids Against Cancer and Softball Game.
              b)  Trash and Cleanliness in class and around campus.
              c)  Outside Reading:  We will begin an outside book after Monte Cristo
3.  Discuss "The Education of Frank McCourt":  What influenced him to be what he became?
4.  "Home from the Heart" and "No Irish Need Apply"

Homework:  Relax and Watch Some Football!

Objective:  The students will Close Read an article about the author of Typhoid Fever looking for things that will help them write the essay.

1.  Roll
2.  WP #2
3.  Discuss End Notes (Interpret, Extend, Challenge) from the reading.  Turn in for points.
4.  Close Read "The Education of Frank McCourt"

Objective:  The students will finish Close Reading of Typhoid Fever by doing the three Higher Level Reading Skills and begin reading the article about the author.

Objective:  The students will discuss the writing prompt for the essay we will complete with this piece of literature and then complete Close Reading of "Typhoid Fever"

1.  Roll
2.  Webpage Quiz
3.  Discuss Writing Prompt
4.  Go over pages 5-7 of "Typhoid Fever" and vocabulary.
5.  Complete Close Reading of story.

Homework:  Finish Close Reading for points tomorrow.  Due at the beginning of class.

First Day Sophomores!

Objective:  The students will begin their first CLOSE READ of the first piece of lit that we will discuss and write about this year.

1.  Sit anywhere (where you will be tempted to be a screwball).
2.  Intro and Roll.
3.  Supplies Needed ASAP.
4.  Close/Active Reading Notes
5.  "Typhoid Fever" Close Read

Homework:  Go to my website.  www.warrenmlk.com and read all info.  There will be a quiz on it tomorrow.
