MOnte Cristo Book Report

Objective:  The students will work on their Monte Cristo Analysis Essay using the Book Report Format

1.  Use the book and the format to write a great analysis.

2.  Sign up for Turnitin.com so that you can submit your paper for plagiarism check.

CD Project and Outside Book Discussion

Objective:  The students will know expectations of project and outside reading.

1.  CD Project

2.  Outside Reading:  Due January 19, 2018

Worth 650 points to your grade:  That is about one letter grade.
           250 for pages
           100 close reading (character page 10 points, end chapter notes 20, highlights/annotations 70)
           100 oral question (or 70 or 50 or ZERO)  If you fail the question, it's a zero/650.
           200 for the written report

3.  Book Report format:  Is on my website.

4.  Let's go over expectations of the report.

5.  You need your book by Monday.  Must be from the Honors Book List.  Also on my site.

Count of MOnte Cristo Final

Objective:  The students will complete the Final for our first novel.

1.  Get the final answer sheet and test.

2.  Listen for instructions.

3.  Complete the test and scan it.  Write your name and score on your paper.  Then turn it in.  If your name is not on the paper with a score, you will not get a score.... out of 300 points.

If you have the close read book, show it to me and I will give you extra credit.  Make sure your nmae is in the book.

Stump the Teacher

Objective:  The students will earn extra credit by asking the teacher questions on the book.

1.  Quick Quiz:  Pass and you get to play.  Fail and you write an essay.

2.  Stump the Teacher

3.  Monte Cristo Test tomorrow.  300 points.

4.  CD Project due Friday.

Almost there...

Objective:  The students will complete their original personal symbol.

1.  Grade vocab and turn in.

2.  Type your personal symbol.

3.  Complete Stump the Teacher.

Note:  I am sick and will be out tomorrow, so Stump the Teacher is moved to the day that we get back.  You also need to FINISH MONTE CRISTO over break.  No work, just finish the reading.  The end is amazing!!!

Objective:  The students will read a story that has a deep meaning.

How's Stump the Teacher Questions coming along?

Objective:  The students will know important vocabulary for this week's AWESOME story.

2.  "The Beginning of Grief" vocabulary.

3.  Work on Monte Cristo Stump the Teacher.  Must be complete by Friday.  I would be on Chapter 53 today.

Stump the Teacher time!

Objective:  The students will now be able to quiz the teacher on his knowledge of Monte Cristo.

1.  Get your District Writing Test.  And get your scan sheet.  Fill in the appropriate bubbles for all Rubric Scores and the final overall grade.

2.  Give the scan sheet back to me.  If you worked on it at home, please put it in the :Home" folder so that I don't scan them into the data system.
 Grades are converted to points like this:  If there is a minus after the number, it is worth 1 point less.
6=100
5=90
4=80
3=70
2=60
1=50 or less.

3.  Stump the Teacher:  For Chapters 51-60.  Read it by next Friday.  For each chapter, write two questions and answers.  Make them hard!!  Next Friday you get to ask me questions from the chapters, and if I don't know them, you get 5 points of EXTRA CREDIT for each question that I don't know.

But!!!  You will have a quiz before we play.  If you don't pass, you will write an essay instead of playing.

I didn't even know we have Friday off until this morning!!!

Objective:  The students will complete the Monte Cristo Study Guide up to Chapter 50.

1.  WP #22

2.  Finish the ambiguous poem and its analysis mini-poster.  Due today for 100 points.

3.  Read Chapter 50 of Monte Cristo.  This is a great chapter.  You find out how Fernand got rich and how Haydee came to be with the Count.

Study Guide due tomorrow.

Objective:  The students will read and analyze a great poem by one of America's best current story-tellers.

1.  WP #21

2.  "Nothing Man" reading and analysis.

3.  Group discussion.

4.  Monte Cristo Chapter 49.  It's so short!!

Go to the POwder Puff Game tonight.

Objective:  The students will complete MOnte CRisto up to Chapter 47 and 48.

These are very long chapters 47-48.  So you have all weekend to finish them.

2.  Complete WP Packet and turn in.

3.  I want folders organized for folder check on MOnday.
