Orgainizing, writing and citing.

Objective:  Students will work on Part II of the research paper.

1.  Work on Part II:  Biographical Section
2.  Extra Credit for someone tomorrow who has Part II done and lets the class look at it on the LCD.

Good Morning Everyone!

Objective:  The students will see a great example of what they are expected to do in Part II of the research paper, The Biographical Information Section.  They will also see how to cite their sources in their paper using Easybib.com.

1.  Get sample Part II
2.  Discuss Citation Notes (write on back of sample.
3.  Discuss use of Easybib to find out how to cite source.
4.  Go over sample.
5.  Begin writing Part II.  It is due on Friday typed and ready to edit.

Outside Book.  The next book report is due on March 22, 2013

Editing Day 1

Objective:  The students will exchange papers and complete peer editing.  They will then get out their research and begin reading and highlighting info for Part II.

1.  CST
2.  Peer Editing (50 points or NO Points)
3.  Reading/Highlighting of info for Biographical Section of paper.

Homework:  Take home edited Part 1 and make changes tonight while it's clear in your mind what you should do.  Save.

Research Day 2

Objective:  The students will complete research on their POY.

1.  Take Bully Survey.  Must bubble in your ID.  Leave first four bubbles blank, then bubble in your number.

2.  Go to Library.

3.  Tomorrow your typed anecdotal intro is due for 50 points.  If you don't have it here, you can not EDIT so you lose he points.

Research Day One

Objective:  The students will research their subject of the paper, but focus today only on 2012 information.

1.  Notes on how to make Header for your paper.

a)  Type your paper.  Then do the following:
         1)  Click "View"
         2)  Click "Headers and Footers"
         3)  Scroll over to the right margin and Type your last name.
         4)  Click "Insert Page Number"
         5)  Click "Close"
2.  Library Research:  Today:  Focus only on 2012 Information.  If you can't find enough good information on 2012, then you may want to change your subject!

Zero Period:  Monday:  Research at home until 6:45, then met in the library at 7:00 when they open.

Outside reading???????  You start yet???

3.  Correct Vocab.
3.  Handout/Discuss Prompt (add notes, 4 parts, periodical)
4.  Look at Time's LIst of past winners
5.  Look at 2012 List of people
6.  Look at tjis year's article beginning.
7.  Pick a person/thing by tomorrow.

Objective:  The students will know important terms for our discussions of and writing of the research term paper.

1.  Get folders and lit book
2.  Clean out folders.  Leave only your notes and book report handouts/book list.
3.  Discuss the schedule for the semester and how you should take care of outside reading.
4.  Complete vocabulary assignment.  Due when we walk into class tomorrow.

Objective:  The students will show that they have read their outside reading books by answering an oral question and active reading.

Note:  Zero Period:  Starting Final Tomorrow.

1.   Zero Period:  Study for final.  Add aliteration, assonance and personification to the study guide.
2.  Have book ready.
3.  Work quietly on book report.

Objective:  The students will read "Theme from English B" by Langston Hughes and analyze it and then discuss what type of questions they may see on the upcoming final.

1.  Get the poem handout.
2.  Active read.  Use the study guide to make intelligent annotations.
3.  Write 2 Multiple Choice questions that you might see with 4 possible answers.
4.  Discuss with a partner.
5.  Type 10 good questions into the computer and take practice test.

Friday: Book Reports and Oral Question

How Final Works:  You will know your "Final Semester Grade" on Monday...

If you get an A on the final that grade goes up 3%
If you get a B on the final it goes up 1%
C:  It stays the same
D:  It drops 1%
f:  drops 3%
