Objective:  The students will discuss yesterday's poem.

1.  Get out both pages.

2.  Discuss what the poem is about and all of the elements.

3.  Turn in for your last grade of the year.

Day 168

Objective:  The students will complete the last assignment of the year.

Zero Period:  Sleep in tomorrow.

1.  Get into groups of four.  Put all phones away for this activity.  If I see you on one, you will lose 100 points for this assignment.

2.  Review Irony and Ambiguity Terms and Poetic Devices.

3.  Close Read the poem.  Highlights and Annotations will be worth 50 points.

4.  Discuss the poem with your friends.  What does it mean?  What is happening?  

5.  Complete an individual mini-poster like the one on the back of the poem.

1.  Finish yesterday's writing of one AP Style paragraph that answers the prompt about how the lack of preparation led to the Titanic Tragedy.  If I see a phone out, automatic zero.

The students will discuss the irony and local color in our story.

Note:  Zero Period:  If you are done with your outside reading (turned in the report and book), you don't have to show up at 7:35 tomorrow.  Show up at 8:15 so that I can take attendance.

2.  Turn it in for points.

Objective:  The students will complete vocabulary for this week's story. 

I forgot that we have one more unit on irony, so we have a few more things before poetry.

1.  Get out your phone and look at your grade on Aeries.  Then look after I click "done grading" for your Outside Book.  You have until Monday.  Don't wait until the last minute to do it.  I will try to catch you if you don't read it and know it.  Due Monday and no late papers will be graded.

c)  LOTF Final if you missed Friday.

     Simon is different from the other boys “not only due to his physical frailty, manifested in his fainting spells”, but also in his obvious concern for the more vulnerable boys. The littluns follow him, and he picks choice fruit for them from spots they can't reachHe stood up for Piggy and helps him get his glasses back when Jack knocks them off his head.  In addition he has a secret place in the jungle, where he spends time alone.
