Day Last of Your Sophomore Year!

Objective:  The students will know their grade by the end of the period.

Final:  Oral Question and Close Reading Check

1.  Get your book and graded book report.  I did not check close reading (worth 100) and ask the oral questions (also worth 100).  You all waited until the last day so your grade could not be finished until the last day.

2.  I will call you up one at a time.

3.  Have a great summer.  Do something fun and meaningful/memorable.  I have loved teaching you and I am sorry that I had to miss so much of the year.

Day 171

 Objective: Oral question. Graded essays are on front table.

1. Students will sit and be ready to be called on for their oral question. Bring close read book with you.

2. Rest of class time will be decided by vote.

Day 170

Objective: Students will watch the LOTF movie and do their oral question (ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE HERE ON THE DAY OF YOUR FINAL).

1. No late papers or books. Get your book if you did close reading and line up to do your oral question. I will ask your question and grade your close reading.

2. Watch LOTF movie, watch out- there's lots of cursing in this part.

Day 169

Objective:  The students will turn in their Outside Reading Requirement.

1.   Outside Book!  Due today.  Or that is your grade.  Do it now.   NO LATE PAPERS or BOOKS will be graded.

2.  Today:  LOTF Movie.  If your parents do not want you watching a PG13 film, please let me know.

Day 168

Objective:  The students will complete their Outside Reading Requirement.

1.   Outside Book!  By Wednesday.  Or that is your grade.  Do it now.  And I will NOT BE HAPPY if you all turn them in on Friday!!!!!  NO LATE PAPERS or BOOKS will be graded.

2.  Tomorrow:  LOTF Movie.  If your parents do not want you watching a PG13 film, please let me know today.  It has a few F words in it.  And I won't be here to mute them.  Please let me know TODAY.  I don't want to be in trouble over it.

Day 167

Objective:  The students will complete their Outside Reading Requirement.

1.  Everyone pull up Aeries on your phones.  Look at your grade.  I have graded everything.  Is it correct?

Today is the softball game!  Donate, get raffle tickets and extra credit.

2. Villanelle handout: you will write one yourself (don't worry about pentameter requirement).

1. You were assigned a sonnet yesterday so today, you should have 2 poems complete by the end of the period. A metaphor and sonnet. 

2. Mr Warren will be here tomorrow to check that they are done (Period 3 especially).

2.  Read the examples with me.

3.  Write your own sonnet poem. Follow the format as given on the handout.

So... If you donate, you get extra credit.  Every dollar you donate, you get 5 points of Extra Credit.  Max points is 100.  

You may ask, "Isn't this like buying a grade?  No!  It's doing something nice to support people in need.

2.  Read the examples with me.

3.  Write your own metaphor poem. It must be a minimum of 8 lines.  It can rhyme but it doesn't have to.  Some possible topics:   My Family is...     My Father/Mother is....    My Teacher is....   My Home is...    My Job/Boss is...  My Boyfriend/Girlfriend is....    My Church is...   My Team is...   

Day 161

Objective: Students will finish/take their LOTF final if they did not already.

1.Watch Simpson's LotF episode.

2. Do the handout then turn it in at the end of the period.

 

Day 160

Objective: Students will take LotF final.

1. Turn in Epitaphs. Grab scantron and take a seat, wait for exams to be passed out.

2. Handwritten notes only, no books or phones (phone out mean automatic fail).

3. When done, scan your scantron with the computer in the front and place exam on front desk. No phones out until everyone around you is done.

Finally!!!  It's great to be back!  Ms. Martinez and I will team teach the rest of the year.  I will be back Monday and Tuesday and she will teach the rest.  Thanks so much for making my time away restful.
