What is a satire? A satire is any type of writing that pokes
fun of some aspect of human behavior.
What are some characteristics of a satire? Exaggeration,
irony, humor, ridicule, sarcasm, and fictional characters that represent real
people.
How are satires written? A satire can be either bitter and mean or
gentle and humorous. They often are
written to insult or hurt those it’s written about.
What is a satire’s purpose? They are written to change human
behavior. They try to point out the
foolishness of some of our attitudes and behaviors.
What are some types of satires? Novels, essays, stories, movies, plays and
poems (songs)
Satires have themes, usually they
are universal.
