Objective:  The students will analyze a symbol in MC.

Late Passes.  You get TWO.  Use them wisely.  Stop copying, sending pictures of assignments to others, etc.  You have unlimited opportunity to extra credit, so one assignment will not hurt your grade... but getting caught cheating will hurt....  my feelings!

1.  Get handout.
     a)  Close read with the purpose of writing about the characteristics of a Baptism.
     b)  Use Chapter XVII (17) The Isle of Tiboulen to complete the notes outline.
     c)  Write a great detailed paragraph analyzing how Dantes' Escape is symbol of a baptism.

MAP Testing Day 2

Objective:  The students will complete the MAP Test.

1.  Get computer.
2.  Sign on to MAP using the code and password

4.  You have to finish today, so use time wisely.

MAP Testing Day 1

Objective:  Students will take the district's new MAP test for next year's placement in classes.

1.  Get Chrome Book from cart.
2.  DO NOT OPEN IT OR TURN IT ON!
3.  Follow instructions.....  I am learning this too, so be patient.  Don't just start clicking....

3.  Bottom Left under Apps:  Open the MAP app.
4.  Don't do anything until  I prompt you to.

Last Day for Essay 2

Objective:  The students will complete their essay, edit it, proof -read it, and bring in a clean, perfect printed copy to me tomorrrow.

1.  10th grade Lit Survey.  Take it, complete it, and scan it.  Then toss it.  But give me back the question sheet.

2.  Essay Writing:  Closing Paragraph:  Apply what you have proven to the bigger picture.  Wrap it all up.  Expand my mind. 

3.  No Monte CRisto tonight.  If you are behind on any chapters, this is the time to get caught up!

Let's finish this essay!

Objective:  The students will complete the last body paragraph of the essay.

1.  Pulled Quote Quiz Chapters 17-18
2.  Body Paragraph 3.  Your persuasion part.  Which story is most likely to happen.  Here you must use a non-fiction article to help support your ideas.
3.  Read Monte CRisto Chapters 19-20

Study guide due tomorrow.

Stealing from the cancer club on the day of the cancer game during cancer week... Some kids are just wrong!

Objective:  The students will write the first two body paragraphs of their essay.

1.  MC Quiz Chapters 15-16.
2.  Discuss study guide questions...  I assumed again!
3.  Write body paragraphs (the explanations of the stories)

Cancer Football Game Day

Objective:  The students will organize their info and begin writing the first three parts of the essay.

1.  Discuss "The Treasure chapter of MC
2.  Go over your story elements outline organizer.
3.  Discuss how to set up the essay.
4.  Write your intro and begin your explanation of one story.

Homework:  Read chapters 15-16 (10 pages....  The Third Attack)

A Little Break Today from Work.... But we're still learning!

Objective:  The students will prove or disprove a study by the American Institute of Higher Education.

1.  Get folders.
2.  Extra Credit Experiment:  Who is Smarter?  Boys or Girls???
3.  Monte Cristo Chapter 14.  The Treasure.  IT IS THE HARDEST CHAPTER IN THE BOOK.  Read it, but if you don't understand it.... no problem.  I will explain it.

Objective:  The students will outline two of the body paragraphs for Essay 2.

1.  Get folders and a paper for a quiz.  It can be an old paper.

Last Day to Write! Monte CRisto Tomorrow!!!

Objective:  The students will write the last two paragraphs of their first paper.

1.  Get your folders.  Geet all parts of the paper out and ready.
2.  Discuss Body Paragraph 3:  The paragraph about YOU.

Look at the prompt:  What does it tell you to do?

Discuss what has influenced your life (positive or negative) that you feel will impact you as an adult.
             Be specific!  No general.  Develop with specific people, incidents, examples.
             This should be an interesting paragraph for the reader (ME) to read.  Make it so good that I will feel like I know you, I am interesting in getting to know you, I want to find out more about you in the coming year.

3.  Discuss Closing Paragraph:  What do you do?  What did you make my mind do in the Intro Paragraph?  Well, you do the OPPOSITE in the Close. 

Homework:  Open your essay ON A COMPUTER!!!  Clean it all up.  Read it.  EDIT it!  Print it.  Have it ready for me BEFORE the bell rings tomorrow.

Proper Use of Quotes is EASY!

Objective:  The students will see how to properly use quotes.

1.  Seating Chart.
2.  Proper use of quotes:

1. The he says quote:  The Exhibit "Home for the Heart" says, "Crop failures, the most famous being the potato famines of the 1840s, were a result of land use policies."
2. The sample quote:  It is evident in the exhibit "Home for the Heart" that land use policies led to many problems for the Irish:  "Crop failures, the most famous being the potato famines of the 1840s, were a result of land use policies."
3. The integrated quote:  The exhibit "Home for the Heart" presents the opinion that "[c]rop failures, the most famous being the potato famines of the 1840s, were a result of land use policies."

3.  Write the 3rd body paragraph about Frank McCourt.  Have it typed into your doc ready to share tomorrow.

Objective:  The students will begin typing.  They will complete the first two paragraphs to share with the class.

1.  Set up your Essay Doc on Google Docs.

1. Go to your RUSDLearns.net account.  Go to Google Drive.
2. Click "New"
3. Click "Untitled Document" and name it:  Essay 1 Period 1 (or 2,3,4,5,6)
4. Click Share
5. Share it with me:  rwarren@rusdlerns.net.  Make sure "can edit" is marked. " Send"
6. Click Line Spacing Tab:  Click "Double"
7. Click "Inset" Tab:  Go to Header
8. Scroll to the right about the 5 inch line:  Type in your last name and then one space.
9. Click Insert Tab again, Go to Page Number, then 1-2 right side.
10. Put Proper MLA Heading
11. Put Title (Centered)

And you're set!!!  Type away.  I can now look at your papers as you type and make suggestions.
