Objective:  The students will read and analyze a short story and try to figure out its great personal symbol.

1.  Get folders
2.  Read and analyze "The Beginning of Grief" and complete handout.
3.  Newspaper Survey #3.  It's the last one of the year.  Everyone needs to fill out the card.

4.  Read the end of LOTF.

Presentations Chapters 9-10

Objective:  The students will teach the other kids about their LOTF chapter.

1.  Get folders
2.  Present Chapters 9-10
3.  Symbol Writing Assignment.

Time to impress me with your presentation skills!

Objective:  The students will teach chapters 7-9 of LOTF to the rest of the class.

Lord of the Flies Check Out Day

Objective:  The students will know the two kinds of symbols that authors use in literature and how to find them.

Good Morning!

4.  Read "Through the Tunnel" p. 401.  As you read make a list of what you think are the symbols and what you think they symbolize.
5.  LOTF Check Out at library back window.  7:10, 7:50, 8:50, 10:00, and 11:00.

Homework:  Read Chapter 1.

Bring your ID Cards tomorrow to get LOTF.

Objective:  The students will know the author's intent and rationale for writing Lord of the Flies.
