Night Test Tomorrow

Objective:  The students will review for Night Final tomorrow.

LAST EXTRA CREDIT OF THE YEAR OPPORTUNITY:

Come to the game Friday.  Donate to the American Cancer Society.  $1.00 = 10 points.  Max donation $20 = 200 points.  Is this like buying a grade?  Well....  No it's helping people with cancer.

1.  Staple the Night Packet of SIX Study Guides

2.  Get out your typed and printed Haiku

3.  Hand both in to the red and white baskets.

4.  Get review handout and complete.  It is an assignment AND it will help you greatly on tomorrow's test.

I Forgot it IS A THREE DAY WEEKEND!!!!!

Objective;  The students will complete reading of Night.

1.  Finish reading the last two chapters.

2.  Complete and TYPE and PRINT all Haiku.  Due Tuesday.

3.  Complete all Study Guide Sheets (There should be SIX).  Due in a packet on Tuesday.

4.  Work on Outside Reading Requirement.  This is due June 6.  If you try to turn it in late.  I will politely smile and tell you nicely (as I always am) to get the heck out! :)

Objective:  The students will discuss the irony presented by the author in Part Five of Night.

1.  WP (what number are we on?  We have to be close to done with them).

2.  Discuss the Irony of the following:
    a)   "You are lucky."
    b)  The selection and "The essential thing, don't be afraid."
    c)  Laughing after the selection.  Others sobbing.
    d)  "The Inheritance"
    e)  "More faith in Hitler than anyone else."
    f)  Leaving the hospital.

3.  Read Chapter 6.

1.  The students will read and analyze chapter 5.  Did anyone see an awesome (horribly sad) example of the author using great symbolic imagery.

2.  Today I am crazy busy with the softball game.  I need you to do the following:

a)  Read the Chapter and Complete Handout
b)  Pass all work from the completed work folder.
c)  Work on Haiku for Chapter 4 and 5.
d)  Work on Outside Book.

Objective:  The students will read and analyze chapter 4 of Night.

1.  Quiz 

2.  Discuss Night Poems assignment.

3.  Get Night 4 Handout.

4.  Read Chapter 4 and complete handout.

Quiz:  In a paragraph explain the following pulled quote:

"Some of the men spoke of God... As for me, I had ceased to pray.  I was not denying His existence, but I doubted His absolute justice."

Tell what has specifically brought on this new attitude about God to Elie (you should mention several things in this chapter).

Objective:  The students will write a few cool poems that reflect the tone, characters and theme of Night Chapters 1-2

1.  Quiz:  Write a short paragraph that explains the following quote:

"I knew her well.  A quiet woman with intense burning eyes, she was often at our house."

"Madan Schachter had gone out of her mind.  On the first day of the journey she had already begun to moan...  As time went on, her cries grew hysterical."

2.  Night Haiku discussion and writing for Chapters 1-2.  You will complete the rest of the chapters on your own daily as we read.
