A little bit of poetic device work today!

Objective:  The students will look into Shakespeare's use of poetic devices in his writing.

Get your folder and your books please.

Homework:  Have you picked your last outside book?  You owe me 500 pages total.  If you have read 450 pages or more (90% of the pages) you DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANOTHER BOOK.  If you have 449 pages or less... You DO have to complete another book.

Cough... Cough.... Uggghh. I feel horrible.

Objective:  The students will complete Act III Review and show that they have completed their outside book.

1.  Put your book and your report on your desk.
2.  Pick up a review handout.
3.  Complete handout and wait to be called up.

Here's what I will do:
1.  Look at Active Reading (100 points for notes/highlights, character page, end notes)
2.  Ask an oral question.  Get first one right=100.  Second = 70.  Third =50.  Miss all, and I don't grade report, or give points for Active Reading or the question.... 400 points.  And no page credit.

My first question to you will be:  "Did you finish the book?"  And by finish, I don't mean skimmed it.  Finished most of it...  Used SPARKNOTES on it.... etc.

If you lie to me and I catch you, it will not be a good weekend!

Get your yellow CAHSEE slip and find out where you are to go for testing. 

BOOK REPORTS are still due on Thursday.  Not Friday.  Not Monday.  Thursday.  Send them by email if you have to.

Objective:  The students will begin Act III, which is the turning point of the play.

1.  Get folders, lit books, and sign up for a role.
2.  WP # _____
3.  Presentations (Rhetoric and Oration, Marc Antony, Helvius Cinna)
4.  Notes
5.  Read

Tomorrow:  Ides of March Dress Day.  See me in the morning (before 1st or 2nd) to get your points and sign sheet.

Next Thursday:  Book Reports and Active Read Book due.  (I will be out the day after.  I will not accept late book reports even if you are sick that day.  You have had 9 weeks, so get it in.  Late papers will not be graded.

AND:  If you are planning on dressing up, but not turn in a book report....  that is not going to happen.  The JC Dress UP does not take the place of the book report.  I will delete dress up points if you don't turn in a book report.

How is your Roman Clothing coming along?

Objective:  The students will review the two acts that we have read so far.

1.  Get folders.  No books needed today.
2.  Get the handout(s)
3.  Presentations and Notes ( Tragedy and Tragic Hero, Roman Women, Roman Clothing, and Artimidorus)
4.  Complete the Act II Review (if you haven't already)
5.  Complete the Act I and II Story Board.

Book Report:  Due in 9 days.  Remember... I will not accept any late papers.  You can turn them in early, but you can not turn it in late.  Even if you are sick that day, you must turn it in (email, google docs, whatever).

Sophomore Registration with Counselors

Objective:  The students will use this off day to complete some reading of their outside book which is due in17 days.

1.  Go to counselors' office.
2.  Sit respectfully until called into their office.
3.  Come back when you are done.

I would like to see all work from the "done grading" folders returned to your own folders.
