Monte CRisto Last Assignment: First Semester Wriitng Final

Objective:  The students will use their knowledge of Monte Cristo and everything that they have learned about writing this year to complete a literary analysis essay.

1.  Get your graded tests.  Look over your tests to see if you can "argue" your answer is correct and that mine is wrong....  (There will be very few)

2.  Go over Writing Final.  It is due a week from today.  Next Wednesday.  We will spend NO CLASS TIME on this.  It is worth 200 points.

SUB Tomorrow.  Be good!

MC Final Day

Objective:  To prove that you read the book.

1)  Put posters and CDs on table by my desk.  Make sure name is ON the CD itself.
2.  Get a test and an answer sheet.
3)  Put your  test number ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR answer sheet.
4)  Fill in your student ID number.

Read carefully, think, and you will pass if you read.

Homework:  Go to warrenmlk.com, click on the Book Report Formatt link, and print out the three papers to use in class tomorrow.  If you don't have it, then you will not be able to work on the assignment.

Stump the Teacher Day: Hope you have some hard ones! I like a challenge!

Objective:  The students will try to earn extra credit by asking me questions from Monte Cristo Chapters 51-60.

1.  Get out a small piece of paper for the One Question Pass to Play Quiz.

2.  Stump the Teacher Activity

3.  Finish Monte Cristo by the time we get back from Thanksgiving Break.

Objective:  Students will write about The Secret Lion using all of the writing rules that we have learned this year.  One mistake is -10 points.  2 mistakes is -20.  Etc...

Relax America!!! We will be fine, no matter who our "leader" is!

Objective:  The students will discuss Close Reading of "The Secret Lion" and analyze its narrator and voice.  Then they will write about it.

1.  WP #17
2.  Discuss Monte CRisto Chapter 50.
3.  Discuss Stump the Teacher for Chapters 51-60.  Read all by next Wednesday.  Write two questions for each chapter with answers.  You will then ask me the questions.  If you "stump" me, you get 5 points of extra credit for each question that I don't know on top of the 100 points for the questions.
4.  The Secret Lion close reading and writing assignment.

Home Reading:  I would read 2 chapters:  51-52

Powder Puff: Red Team Wins! USC/Oregon: The Bad Team Won!!

Objective:  The students will read a story with a very distinctive voice.

1.  Get folders and The 2 Handouts.  Staple together.
2.  WP #16
3.  Discuss Monte Cristo Chapter 48 (Was Nortier a murderer?)
3.  Notes:  Point of View and Voice
4.  Close Read "The Secret Lion" with the purpose of discussing literary analysis (everything that we have discussed so far:  Setting, Tone, Characters, Sequence, Symbols, Irony, Theme, Voice and Narrator).

Read Chapter 49:  6 pages about Andrea Cavalcanti, Eugenie and Albert.

Sub Tomorrow:  Be good.  Bring Monte Cristo.  You will be using it!

Objective:  The students will complete their characterization.

1.  Complete characterization.  Be sure that you have all three methods of indirect characterization.  It must be typed in MLA format.  Format alone will make it not pass.

2.  Read Chapters 45-46 and do study guide.

3.  Look over Aeries.  Some of you are doing not so well.
