Been kind of frustrated (Period 4 and 5) with the WP effort.... soooo

Objective:  The students will complete Night.

1.  WP Test #1 (100 points):  Find the ten errors.  Circle and make correction: 5 points each.  Under WP, make the number list and identify what type of error it is: 5 points each).

2.  Finish Chapter 8 and 9 of Night.

3.  Complete Night Haiku and type

4.  Turn in typed Haiku tomorrow.

6.  Tomorrow AP Type Reading Analysis #3

Tough, AP, deep reading number 2

Objective:  The students will analyze a great, deep piece of literature.

1.  Get the story.  DO NOT WRITE ON IT!  YOU WILL NOT BE CLOSE READING IT.

2.  Read it quietly, trying to determine the deeper meanings of the piece. Try to identify:

a)  Theme
b)  Symbols
c)  Key passages that develop both of these.

No reading of Night today unless you want to.  The next chapter is long, so you may want to start on it.  We will resume it on Monday.

Faction: Have you read anythinng so far in Night that could be "faction"?

Objective:  The students will review chapters 1-2 of the book and make a connection to chapter 2.

1.  TOMORROW:  Bring your lit text book to return.  WE are going to the library together to return it.  If you have other texts that you are not using anymore this year... bring them too.

Let's See What You Have Learned This Year About Reading and Analyzing a Difficult Piece of Lit

Objective:  The students will read and analyze "Nothing Man" by Bruce Springsteen.

1.  Put all phones away today.  If I see one out at any time today, you will recive a ZERO on today's assignment.
2.  Get the handout.
3.  Look at the back of the paper for what you are going to have to analyze.  If there are any questions as to what each of those things are, ask me now.
4.  Close Read the Poem.  Find and label all of the items you need to identify.
5.  Using the bottom of Side 2, create the mini-poster of all the elements of the song.  Include a small graphic or drawing.

Let's see if anyone can figure it out.  And please don't share this activity with students in later classes.

1.  All JC Newspsper Posters are graded.  Find your poster, look at the grade, and yell it out when I call your name so that I can get it into the gradebook.
