Post for my Social Media Assignment

I do not have an Instagram, Vine  or a Snapchat account, but I do have and use Youtube, Flickr and Vimeo.

At the end of the year, I assign the students a very simple final project.  The directions are straight forward:  Show me what you have learned this year in my class.

This is an example of what one group did last year.  It was an A.

Test Day 2

Objective:  Students will complete all of Night.

1.  Finish any reading or activities for Night.  Packet is due on Thursday.  You will turn them in all together, but you will receive seperate grades for each part.  500 points.  If any part is plagiarized, you fail all parts!
2.  Haiku are due typed on Friday.
3.  Night Test is on Friday.

We have one week between books.  Finish your outside book during that time!!!!

And don't forget the meeting tomorrow for seniors interested in playing in the Seniors, Staff and Softball Against Cancer Game.

1.  Finish any reading or activities for Night.  Packet is due on Thursday.
2.  Haiku are due typed on Friday.
3.  Night Test is on Friday.

Be GREAT for the sub!!

Objective:  The students will complete reading all parts of Night and complete all activities.

1.  Let the sub take roll.
2.  We have two Chapters of Night left.  They are very short.  Finish reading and complete all parts of assignment:

a)  vocab
b)  chapter questions
c)  character list
d)  Themes Development
e)  Social Commentary Development

f)  Haiku

If sub sees that you are not working, your packet is due tomorrow (even if I don't have your class).  If you work, it will be due on Wednesday.  DO NOT COPY OR CHEAT ON ANT PART OF THIS ASSIGNMENT.  IF I CATCH YOU....  I WILL FAIL YOU AT THE SEMESTER!!!

Reading Night.... If you don't want to go hug your parents afterward....

Objective:  The students will demonstrate that they can identify 10 symbols in a short story by Edgar Allan Poe.

1.  Get folders and lit books
2.  CST
3.  Read Story.
4.  Group Quiz:  Try to identify and explain 10 symbols in groups of 3-4.

Homework:  Take the weekend off of Night (hug your parents!) and do some outside reading.  Have a great, safe weekend!

I was so impressed with the discussions I heard yesterday! You guys are learning to think deeply!

Objective:  The students will PROVE what the main symbols are in "The Beginning of Grief."

1.  Get folders.  Look at Caesar Newspaper grades so you can yell them out to me to put in the computer.
2.  Night Chapter 6 Quiz
3.  10 more minutes to look at story and find specifics to PROVE your thoughts on the symbols.

Good afternoon to my favorite class!!!!

Objective:  Students will read a short story with one of the most creative and moving symbol that I have ever read.

1.  Get folders:  CST 22
2.  We are going to take a day off of Night.  Feel free to work on any parts up to chapter 6 that you are behind (Theme and Social Commentary).

3.  Get the story "The Beginning of Grief" and the handout.

4.  Look over the questions first.  Then read the story.  Remember you are going to be asked to "PROVE IT" when I ask you about the responses you have to the questions, so as you read, look for specifics that will help you.

Blank pages... Time to create.

Objective:  The students will create their own personal symbol in writing.

1.  Get your folders.
2.  Discuss the ten symbols using SPECIFIC DETAIL from the text.
3.  Create your symbol.  Use proper writing rules (have paragraphs, dialogue if needed, etc.)

Have a great weekend.  Relax.  Maybe read some outside book.  Take the weekend off of Night.

Objective:  The students will complete symbol analysis and read Chapter 4 of Night.

1.  Get lit books and folders.
2.  Complete symbol analysis of "Through the Tunnel"
3.  Read and complete all activities with Night Chapter 4. 

Tomorrow:  Know what concrete thing you want to develop into an abstract personal symbol.

Book checkout, teacher tirade, then read a chapter.

Objective:  The students will understand how MAD I am about the lack of Academic Integrity by MOST students in this class.

1.  Get folders.
2.  Night Checkout.  Go to back library window.  ID Card holders first.  Others behind.
3.  CST #___
4.  Active Reading of Policy.  Highlight key information, new information that you didn't know.  White a GIST statement for each section.
5.  Tirade then Video
6.  Read Chapter 1 and complete Night Unit Requirements for that chapter.

Sometimes there is a screwup... and we can get pissed off about it... or we can adapt. We will adapt!

Objective:  The students will watch an Oprah interview with Elie Weisel about his experience at Auschwitz, the Nazi Death Camp.

1.  Keep LOTF Vocabulary in your folder for a couple weeks, until we have enough books to begin the unit.
2.  Get out a piece of paper.  Title it Night Intro Notes.
3.  Watch the interview with the author.  As you watch, jot down a minimum of 10 facts, quotes, observances or details that you may use in a later essay.  (Minimum of 10, but feel free to find more.)

I am sorry about the LOTF mix up, but it wasn't my fault!!!!!!!  We will start it as soon as we can.

1.  Your book reports are graded.  Get them.  Your 3ed quarter grade is due today at 3 PM.  Check Aeries to be sure that I have everything correct.
