Good Morning! Hope you had a great weekend! Congratulations Football!

Objective:  The students will complete their last body paragraph.

1.  Get folders.
2.  Complete last body paragraph.  You must use an informational non-fiction article (cite it and its author within the paragraph) and include a couple quotes in order to support your claims.
3.  Start typing the whole essay up.  We will complete it tomorrow and have it ready to turn in on Wednesday.

Homework:  Chapters 18-20 (only 12 pages.  The treasure and Dantes' return!!!!)

Good Morning My Favorite Class!

Objective:  The students will complete writing the first three paragraphs and begin the persuasive part of the paper.

1.  Get folders.
2.  Monte Cristo Quiz 16-17 (These chapters are sooooo goood!)
3.  Finish Expository Paragraphs (explaining the stories.  Remember, in Long Way Home the son is leaving for 200 years... you better explain that!!)
4.  Write your third body paragraph.  Form your argument.  Then find an article that you can use to support it by using facts and quotes from it.

Homework:  Catch up on Monte Cristo if behind.  And do some outside reading!  It will be a nice weekend to sit around the pool, watch Oregon beat Cal by 40 points, and READ!

A Day to Write

Objective:  Students will use the day to write their two expository (he said, he said) paragraphs using as much detail as possible from each story.

1.  Discuss any questions on the study guide chapters.
2.  Write the next two paragraphs of your paper.  Expository=Explain.  Explain both stories to your reader (me) as if I have never heard of the stories before.  Note:  This is NOT A SUMMARY of the story.  This IS an EXPLANATION of the story that uses literary terms and analysis.
3.  Find your nonfiction informational article which will support your thesis.  Print it out.  Read it.  Highlight information that would be good in your essay.

Homework:  Monte Cristo Chapters 16-17.  Short and easy 14 pages!

4.  Write the intro and pre-write the rest of the essay.

Homework:  Monte Cristo Chapters 14 and 15.  (14 is confusing....  just read it and make sure you know where the treasure is an how it got there).

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Objective:  Finish the essay.  Edit it yourself.  Find all the errors.  Correct them.  And turn in "YOUR BEST WRITING" tomorrow.

1.  Get folders.
2.  Turn in Signed Syllabus for 100 points.  Tomorrow is worth 90 points.
3.  Period 2 Sign the Student Handbook Sheet.
4.  Discuss Closing Paragraphs.
5.  Complete Essay.  Due Typed, Edited, Corrected and Printed tomorrow.

I will look at any essays today if you have them.  This will be the second day in class that we have worked on the writing, so there should BE NO LATE papers.  They all should be well written and free of easy errors.

I love Friday!

Objective:  The students will see three great (or not so great) examples of MLA format and Inverted Triangle Format Intros for the paper we are writing.

1.  Get your folder.  No CST Today.
2.  Outside Reading Requirements Discussion.   400 points to grade.  10% of semester grade.
               a)  Active Reading 100 points (Highlights and comments, Character Page, Three Chapter Notes.
               b)  Oral Question   100 points.  If you get the first one right, you're done.  70 points for the second
                     50 points for the third.  If you miss all three, you didn't read the book.  And you get NO
                     POINTS (of the 400) and NO PAGE CREDIT!
               c)  Book Report 200 points.
3.  Let's see some examples of your Intro Paragraphs and use of MLA.
4.  Write the body of your paper.

1.  Get folder.  Put your completed "Hero's Story" assignment on your desk.

3.  Narrative Essay Notes (Period 3-4 talk about your last essays)
4.  Go over Writing Prompt.
5.  Go over MLA format
6.  Plan Essay

Homework:  Type your intro paragraph.  Save it on your computer.  And then email it to yourself to share tomorrow.  EVERYONE MUST DO THIS!
