Presentations Day 1

Objective:  The students will share some information about Shakespeare and Julius Caesar before we start reading.

6.  Outside Book:  Book needs to be in class each day.  If we have free time, you must have it or lose points.

Ready to make a presentation???

Objective:  Students will discuss Julius Caesar Presentations and sign up for their preferred topic and time of presentation.

1.  Get handout and folder.  Period 1, 4, 5 and 6.  They are a mess.  Monday you start losing points if I see your folder lying down.  5 points per day.

4.  Complete yesterday's handout and work on presentation.  First group presents on Tuesday.

Julius Caesar!!! Time to rack up a ton of EXTRA CREDIT!

Objective:  The students will learn a little about Shakespeare and the play that we are about to read.

1.  Staple your research paper together.  Be sure pages are in correct order.  Be sure to include the Works Cited page.  Staple the Peer Edit Sheet as the last page.

2.  Wait for me to call your name to turn it in so that I can check it off as done.

3.  Grab the handout and a lit book.  Complete with a friend.

Final Day of Research Paper: Man that seemed like a long time!!!

Objective:  The students will use the entire period to Peer Edit one last time so that tomorrow the final draft is perfect.

1.  Get folder, laptop and the peer edit handout.

2.  Spend the entire period editing.  Be sure that sources match up to the works cited page.

3.  Complete the peer edit handout and give to the writer.  THIS WILL BE STAPLED TO FINAL DRAFT TOMORROW!!!!  Do Not lost it!!!

4.  Submit the paper through Turnitin.com for plagiarism report.

Tomorrow:  Final Perfect Research Paper is due!!!  NO LATE PAPERS!!

What a great weekend!!

Objective:  The students will complete the research paper.

1.  Get folder, laptop and Part 4 sample.

2.  Get 50 points or Zero and edit Part 3

3.  Discuss Part 4.  The conclusion and the Works Cited page

1.  Go to easybib.com
2.  Create a free account
3.  Click "New Project"
4.  Name it:  Warren Paper
5.  Click "Bibliography"
6.  Put ypur first source URL in the text box and click "Cite it"
7.  Click "Create Citation"
8.  Repeat the above process for all other online sources (even Youtube Videos I think)
9.  For your print source it is a bit different
10.  Click "Newspaper or All 59 Options
12.  Select Magazine Article (or whatever it is)
13.  You can search for your article to auto cite or ypu can fill in the info manually.
14.  Create Citation
15.  When all your citations are created, click "Export" and Print as Word Doc or Google Doc.

It's going to be a great day!!

Objective:  The students will work on part 3 and SHARE their paper with me to get EXPERT feedback.

1.  Get a computer and get at it!  Share your doc with rwarren@rusdlearns.net so that I can check it out and offer you some suggestions.  If you need more sources, get on the classroom computer and print them.

2.  This is due typed and printed before class on Tuesday.  Stop with the lame excuses and have it here ready!

Registration and MAP Test

Objective:  Students will show that they got smarter over the last 5 months because this is such an awesome class!

1.  Run to Counselor's Office to complete registration.  If you are interested in Journalism/Newspaper for next year I have an application for you.

2.  Hurry back and start MAP Test.

3.  Remember Part 2 is due typed and printed on Wednesday.

Objective:  The students will complete writing Part 2 of the Research Paper.

1.  Get your folder and a chromebook.

2.  Work dilligently on Part 2.  It is due on MOnday.  Print it out.  You don't have to reprint part 1, just the part 2.

Homework:  I want to know what book you are reading on Monday!!!!  Get it.  Start it.

Finish Part 1 and Print Out

Objective:  The students will complete Part 1 of the Research Paper for Editing (points)

1.  Get computer and folder.

2.  Listen carefully to the directions that I am giving:
           a)  Finish Part 1 and print it out for tomorrow's 50 point editing.  If you don't have it here it is a ZERO.
           b)  Print out all of your sources.  Close Read them as shown.  Look for info that you can use for Part 2 (Background/Bio part) and Part 3 (2016 Info).  Use two colors of highlighters. 
           c)  Bring in all sources to use tomorrow when we start Part 2.

Research Day 1

Objective:  The students will find informational sources for the person/thing that they will write about for their research paper.

1.  Get a computer
2.  Open up a new google doc.
3.  Find information on your subject for:
          a)  The Background/Biographical/Past part 2 of the paper
          b)  Current 2016 Info for your part 3.  This part should prove your thesis.
4.  Cut and paste any info you think you can use into your Google Doc so that you can print it up.
5.  Today and Monday:  Just find a bunch of info.  You don't really need to read much of it YET!

Who do you think is 2016 Person/Hero of the Year?

Objective:  The students will complete Close Reading of "Man in the Water" and discuss the gist of each paragraph to come up with the overall main idea.

1.  WP #2

2.  Discuss Outside Reading Requirement:  250 Pages.  From Honors Book List on warrenmlk.com
           * Must Close Read:    100 Points
           * Must pass oral question
           * Must complete Book Report:  Format on warrenmlk.com
           * It is NOT DUE until the end of the year, BUT I would start it ASAP.
3.  Complete Close Read:  For each paragraph:  Identify a great quote that you could use if you were writing an essay for each paragraph AND write a gist statement for each paragraph.

4.  Group Discuss each paragraph to determine the overall theme of the piece.
